The Durie Hill Elevator was opened in 1919 and is New Zealand's only public underground elevator. On top of the elevator is a viewing platform that offers these fantastic views of the Whanganui River, Wanganui City and District, the Tasman Sea, Mount Ruapehu and Mount Taranaki.
